Caserta Squash, Summer (Cucurbita pepo)
Caserta won the All-America Selections Award for outstanding Zucchini in 1949, and it still holds that title today. The bush plant produces zucchini that are 16” long and very thin. Light green bands alternate with forest green bands on the fruits, which are bulbous at the end and narrow at the neck. The best time to harvest is when it is still young.
