VERBESINA encelioides (Golden Crownbeard)
The leaves are alternate or opposite, toothed, and nearly triangular on this well-branched grayish-green vine. Yellow flower heads with 3-toothed rays can be up to 2 inches (5 cm) long. The triangular silvery green leaves have toothed margins. This plant grows in disturbed areas and can turn acres or miles of roadside into a strong yellow carpet. In average, dry to medium, well-drained soils, it grows easily.
