Rosa rugosa (Sand Rose, Hedgehog Rose, Wrinkled Rose)
Rugosa is a tough species rose with thorny stems and wrinkled, leathery, dark green leaves that produces cupped, solitary, fragrant violet-carmine-red blooms with yellow stamens. Tomato-shaped orange-red hips appear after the blooms. As a hedge, it's fantastic. Roses are a wide genus of blooming plants, most of which have beautiful blooms with single to completely double petals. The leaves are medium to dark green in colour, glossy, and ovate in shape, with sharply serrated margins. They range in size from 1/2 inch to 6 inches, from five to more than thirty petals, and come in virtually every hue. The blooms are frequently aromatic. The majority of types grow on long canes that occasionally ascend.
