Picea pungens (Blue Spruce) is a pyramidal conifer with horizontal branching to the ground that grows in the medium to large size range. Green to blue-green needles that are stiff, bristly, and square point outward from the branches in all directions. Light brown cylindrical cones with flexible scales are about 4” long. On older trees, there are dark grey bark furrows.
