Picea abies Southern Europe (Southern European Spruce)
Picea abies Southern Europe (Southern European Spruce) may reach 50-60 meters in height and a trunk diameter of 150 cm throughout a 200- to 300-year life period. The crown is fashioned like a cone or a column. Light to dark green needle-like leaves with tiny white scattered lines. They feature a 4-angled cross section and are 1 to 2.5 cm long. Early in the summer, the female flowers bloom at the tips of the new stems. These start out dark red, then mature into 12-15 cm long cones that turn green, then brown in the fall, then open up to distribute tiny wingless seeds.
