Long Island Cheese Pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima)

Because of their squat shape and characteristic ribbing, these medium to big pumpkins resemble cheese wheels. Their stems are thin and their coloration is khaki. Baked into a pie, moderately sweet meat is frequently used. It takes 108 days for a plant to reach maturity. Long Island Cheese Pumpkin has been revered for centuries thanks to its smooth flesh and string-less interior (not to mention the high nutrient content). It's one of the oldest squashes domesticated for food, which we think speaks well for its taste and grow-ability.
