Parent is a narrow column with green foliage, perhaps 2-3 feet wide when 20 feet tall; narrowest of all fastigiate trees; thin, reddish-brown bark; widely planted in warm areas of the U.S.; wood, fragrant and durable, used for chests in the Middle Ages. This tree is rarely more than 3 feet in diameter. The branches are dark to grey in hue and grow erect.
