With a thick network of fine branches, the habit is oval-shaped to rounded. Leaves are opposite, simple, ovate, whole, 2 to 4 inches long and 2 12 inches broad, and are opposite, simple, ovate, and entire. The glossy dark green foliage become a deep plum crimson hue in the fall.
