Borago officinalis Borage is an annual herbaceous plant that belongs to the Boraginaceae family. It is native to the Mediterranean region and has been naturalized in many other parts of the world.

Borage typically grows up to a height of 60-100 cm (2-3 feet) and has a branching stem that is covered in coarse, prickly hairs. The leaves are alternate, oval-shaped, and also covered in prickly hairs. They are bright green in color and have a cucumber-like flavor.

Flower with triangular shape petals are often blue or sometime observed as pink. Leaves are wrinkled, edible and dull green colored over branched stems. It is used as vegetable in Germany. Young leaves have taste but dried leaves lose their taste with age. Commonly used as a welcome addition to home gardens, courtyards and parks.

The plant produces small, star-shaped blue or pink flowers that bloom in the summer. The flowers are edible and are often used to garnish salads and drinks.

Borage is grown as an ornamental plant in gardens and also for its medicinal and culinary uses. It is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties and has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for a range of health issues, including respiratory infections, skin conditions, and anxiety. In the kitchen, borage leaves and flowers are used as a flavoring for soups, stews, and salads, and the plant's oil is also used in cooking and as a dietary supplement.
