Basil, Lettuce Leaf (Ocimum basilicum)
Lettuce Leaf basil has unusually large leaves that can grow up to 5 inches (13 cm) long. The leaves are a bright green, crinkled, and resemble lettuce leaves, thus the common name. Plants that reach a height of 18-24 inches (46-61 cm) have close-set leaves. The basil flavour and aroma are milder, but the extra large leaves more than compensate.
