M.C. Byles of Logan, West Virginia developed the Mortgage Lifter Heirloom Tomato in the 1930s to help pay off his home mortgage. He simply re-selected German Johnson, Beefsteak, Italian, and English varieties and sold the resulting plants. In just six years, the mortgage was paid off! Fruits are large and pink.
