Rosa laxa (Laxa Rose)
Rosa laxa (Laxa Rose) is a Siberian and Northwest Chinese native. A deciduous shrub reaching a height of 2.5 metres that blooms in July and produces seed from August onwards. In the summer, the bushes yield crimson hips. The imparipinnate leaves are arranged in a zigzag pattern. The serrate and petiolate elliptic leaflets are serrate and petiolate. It may be found in wooded areas as well as hedgerows. It is grown commercially as a rootstock onto which other roses are grafted.
