Pinus tabulaeformis (Chinese Table Pine, Southern Chinese Pine) is a medium-sized evergreen tree that grows to a height of 20 metres (65 feet 7 inches). It is hardy to zone 5. The seeds mature from January to February, and the plant is in leaf all year. Wind pollinates this monoecious species (individual blooms are either male or female, although both sexes can be found on the same plant). The plant does not reproduce on its own.

Light (sandy) and medium (loamy) soils are suitable; it favors well-drained soil but may thrive in nutritionally deficient soil. Acidic and neutral soils are both suitable pH levels. It is unable to thrive in the shade. It loves damp or dry soil and can withstand drought.
