SALVIA farinacea (Blue Sage)

SALVIA farinacea (Blue Sage) is a herbaceous perennial plant native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is a member of the mint family (Lamiaceae) and is treasured for its beautiful spikes of blue flowers and aromatic foliage. It is a popular choice for adding color, texture, and fragrance to gardens and landscapes.

Blue Sage typically grows to a height of 1 to 3 feet (30 to 90 cm) and has a spread of about 1 to 2 feet (30 to 60 cm). It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil.  It has square stems and gray-green leaves with a slightly rough texture. The leaves are lance-shaped and can be covered in a mealy or powdery substance, hence the name "Mealy Sage."
