THELESPERMA filifolium (Greenthread )
The narrow, linear segments of the leaves give greenthread its name. This native annual can be found from South Dakota to Texas in the High Plains. It prefers dry, sandy soils and lives in large colonies. The flowers are a bright yellow color and bloom in the summer. It's an outstanding colonizer and works well in reclamation and roadside mixtures. Many native pollinators are attracted to these flowers.
