Tendersweet Carrot (Daucus carota)
Tendersweet carrots are a classic carrot variety that grow to be about seven inches long with a tapered end. They are delicious and coreless, making them ideal for canning, juicing, or eating raw. They're similar to Imperator Carrots, but they're easier to freeze. Carrots are a slightly lighter orange colour in the garden, but they are still vibrant and exciting. This variety thrives in sandy, well-drained soil. It grows best in zones three through nine, and it needs full sun to achieve its full potential. After about 75 days, these carrots are ready to harvest.
