Red Salad Bowl, Leaf Lettuce (Lactuca sativa)
Red Salad Bowl is a looseleaf lettuce variety with oakleaf-like leaves. The sweet and spicy tones of the deep red and purple leaves make them particularly tender. Red Salad Bowl thrives in the cooler months of the year, such as spring or fall, but it is sluggish to bolt in hotter weather.
The deep-cut bronze-burgundy leaves are crisp and delicious, providing a vivid and aromatic contrast to its relative, the ‘Green Salad Bowl.' Baby leaves are especially tasty. Early-maturing, slow-to-bolt lettuce produces a consistent harvest during the season. Tolerance for late-season mildew is evident. In hot weather, it performs well.
