Mortgage Lifter Tomato, Standard (Slicing) Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum)
M.C. Byles of Logan, West Virginia developed the Mortgage Lifter Heirloom Tomato in the 1930s to help pay off his home mortgage. He simply re-selected German Johnson, Beefsteak, Italian, and English varieties and sold the resulting plants. In just six years, the mortgage was paid off! Fruits are large and pink.
