Barese can be grown for exceptionally tender baby greens or for an early crop of a unique type of Swiss chard when grown to maturity. Similar to pac choi, it can be harvested and sold whole. Unlike pac choi and other similar brassica greens, however, Barese is resistant to flea beetle damage and black rot, making it a good choice for whole-plant greens marketing and crowing.
